Kenya and Tanzania Safaris

A trip to equatorial East Africa to visit the National Reserves and photograph the animals in their natural surroundings. The Safari starts in Samburu National Reserve - Buffalo Springs, in Kenya's semi-desert, rugged northern frontier. From there we traveled along the magnificent Rift Valley toward Lake Nakuru, world known for its vast population of pink flamingos and had game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya's finest Rhino sanctuaries. The next stop was an overnight stay at the only “tree-hotel” ever to be built on the slopes of legendary Mt. Kenya. After a day at idyllic Lake Naivasha and a Tour of Crescent Island we were ready to move to Masai Mara, which is the northern extension of Tanzania’s famous Serengeti Plains. This is Kenya’s premier place of seeing wildlife, and home to a thriving population of predators such as lion and cheetah, as well as hippo, crocodile, zebra, giraffe, elephant, wildebeest and impala. The night was spent near the Talek River and a fabuluous hot-air balloon ride at dawn was featured. The next day I flew to Kilimanjaro Airport near Arusha, Tanzania, and from there drove to Lake Manyara National Park. The park offers a rich diversity of scenery and wildlife including the famous tree-climbing lions. The next morning we enjoyed a game drive at the park and hiked the Great Rift Valley. Later that day we drove to the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site, which is the remnant of an ancient volcano peak and has one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. This World heritage Site is a highlight of any trip to East Africa. This was followed by game drives through Tarangire National Park to conclude the travel adventure. Hope you enjoy the photographs of the trip and animals as much as I enjoyed taking them.
