Amazon, Iles du Salut & Caribbean Adventures

We followed the Atlantic Ocean through the Caribbean to the legendary Amazon River during an exciting 22-day cruise. We started in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and cruised to Barbados and then the former French Penal Colony of Îles du Salut, which is a group of three small islands off the coast of French Guiana. After exploring Ile Royale we cruised up the Amazon River. Along the way we stopping to explore the historic riverside ports of Santarem and Parintins which are on the way to Manaus. In Parintins we had a fabulous high energy non-stop cultural dance performance called Boi Bumba. After leaving Parintins we cruised to Manaus where we took a smaller craft upriver to see the confluence of the Black and Amazon Rivers. Afterwards we explored Manaus before we traveled back down the Amazon to Belen. In Belen we experienced it's unique atmosphere and culture. After leaving Belen we cruised back into the Caribbean where we explored Tobago in Scarborough before cruising to St. Lucia in Castries. Next was Antigua's St. John's and then on to the US Virgin Island's St. Thomas before returning to San Juan for the flight home.
